We had this Gospel proclaimed at the NO this week. The African celebrant, OMI, gave it to Jesus'tenderness in his brief homilie. The way you describe this makes me wonder about how at the end of John's Gospel, so much was left out we are told. This taste of God's Mercy is so touching. I learned this week from St Faustina's writings that God's greatest characteristic is Mercy.....................On FreeMasons: I read in "Liberty the god that Failed" by Chris A Ferrara that it is all-over our USA founding. Even in Texas, when Santa Anna was captured by Texican soldiers, he flashed the Mason sign to Gen Sam Houston which probably spared his life........Thanks and Blessings!
You may be surprised to see what the pre-Vatican II Church had to say about the very "ecumenical" Divine Mercy revelations & image. It was suppressed under Pius XII & even under the Modernist "Saint" John XXIII. "Saint" John Paul II illicitly rehabilitated it. "Saint" Paul VI, the Destroyer of Catholic Tradition just got rid of the Index of Forbidden Books altogether, which included these "revelations." Besides the dubious image (no heart, no wounds, etc.), some of the revelations raise a red flag. Sr Faustina states that the “Lord Jesus” appeared to her and said, “...I am uniting Myself with you so intimately as with no other creature.” (Divine Mercy in My Soul, The Diary of Sr. Faustina, Stockbridge, MA: Marian Press, 1987, p. 288)
She claimed to hear this voice in her soul, “From today on, do not fear God’s judgment, for you will not be judged.” (ibid., p. 168)
It even encourages irreverence toward the Eucharist:“And the host came out of the Tabernacle and came to rest in my hands and I, with joy, placed it back in the Tabernacle. This was repeated a second time, and I did the same thing. Despite this, it happened a third time.” (ibid., p. 23)
Jesus promises to forgive all sins and the punishment due to them for those who go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday. This forgiveness is equivalent to a second baptism. No reparation needed.
It is the Rosary and devotion and reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary that God wants of us today, as the REAL Sr Lucia (sisterlucytruth.org) said in her last public words on Dec. 26, 1957 to Fr Augustin Fuentes.
BTW, JPII fast tracked his own "canonization" & that of others, including John XXIII, Paul VI & Sr Faustina by eliminating for ulterior motives the important "Devil's Advocate" from the process.

Thank you for all these details. This Substack group is quite scholarly.
I am really looking forward to part 2. Fr Coleridge really brings the gospels to life.
